A New Year's Resolution for our family is to do one type of recreational activity each week (Dan and I need to work off our Christmas munchies and we all could use some Vit. D in our diet). So, Kate wanted to go on a hike. Between Dan and Shaun, they got us to this one. Being from St. George you'd think I'd have known all about it, but it was a first and very wonderful! Shaun photo shopped himself into the pic since we didn't have a timer.
It's amazing to be on the actual trail (supposedly) that the pioneers were on as they transported the lava rock from the quarry to the temple site to use as it's foundation.
Joel, Kambree and Kendyl weren't too excited to go hiking at first, but ended up having a great time, even when the winds started to pick up and blow dirt all over us.
You can see the drill marks in the rock from when the pioneers tried to make the huge lava rock a bit smaller for transporting.
Shaun and Katelyn ventured to the top of the hill (no trail...no Kim =). This was their view. Shaun said the top was one big meadow. I think when I lose my 70 lbs I might head up there myself.
What a fun day and only an hour long!
